The Program

The program consists of eight weekly (one and one-half hour) evening sessions and a one-day retreat (on a weekend) between sessions six and seven. This is a highly participatory, supportive, and structured program which will provide you with:

  • Guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices;
  • Gentle stretching and mindful yoga;
  • Group dialogue and mindful communication exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life;
  • Individually tailored instruction;
  • Daily home assignments; and
  • Home practice materials including guided mindfulness practice audios and a workbook.

The program is challenging and life-affirming and takes place in a safe, supportive and deeply engaging experiential learning environment. I will assist you in learning these methods, and provide group instructions and directions to learn, practice, and integrate mindfulness into your everyday life.

Participating in this program requires an ongoing commitment to yourself. You are asked to attend all classes, including the one-day weekend retreat, and to practice daily home assignments for 45 minutes a day.

Everyone who is interested in the MBSR program is asked to attend a free orientation session led by Peg Meyer prior to the first class. Your attendance at an orientation session is a valuable first step toward registering for the MBSR program. During orientation, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the MBSR program, experience some of the mindfulness methods and approaches used, ask questions, explore whether or not the program is right for you, and meet briefly in private with the instructor for a few minutes.
